Gymnasium

The staff were excellent, and the location is probably the best part. It's a 3 minute walk to either Interbus or the train station for connections to the CTA airport, and a 5 minute walk to the much visited Ortigia. The place was perfectly clean, and the hot shower was among the best I've had in a guesthouse. If you want a quiet night, though, avoid the room with a balcony.

We arrived a little early for check-in, before the place had been cleaned. There were dead roaches on the floor and ants climbing the walls. Everything had been cleaned up by the time we could enter our room, but I couldn't stop thinking about the insects. We slept fully dressed and left the bed sheets untouched.

I chose this B&B because I wanted to be close to the bus station for an early flight from Catania, even though I had hoped to stay in Oritgia. It turned out to be a very good decision. Ortigia is a 15 minute walk away, the train station is 5-10 minutes away, and the bus station is just 2 minutes away. The busy square has heavy traffic, but closed windows kept most of the noise out, which I appreciated as I'm quite sensitive to it. Andrea met me at the agreed check-in time and showed me around the apartment. Breakfast is self-serve in the shared kitchen, with fruit, yogurts, juices, water, coffee, tea, packaged pastries, and toast. My room was airy and nice, with modern furniture and good AC. The wifi was weak, and loud neighbors could make it noisy sometimes. I'd definitely stay here again.

I picked this place after reading reviews because I needed somewhere near the train station. The outside of the building looked a bit like a dump, but inside the B&B was immaculate. It was close to the station and also really near ortigia. On the walk there, we passed amazing cafes and restaurants without the ortigia prices.
