B&B Vergilia

We stayed five nights and had a really good time. The family running the B&B were so kind and helpful, it felt like being at home. Our room was very clean, had its own bathroom, and the homemade cake at breakfast was delicious. If anything was missing, we only had to mention it and they would sort it out. The room and bathroom were clean and fairly spacious, and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast had both sweet and savory options, which we liked. It’s a quiet place, with friendly, helpful staff who speak good English. The B&B is 15 minutes from Isola di Orgitia and 200 m from the Sanctuary of Madonna. I recommend it as a base for visiting beautiful, artistic, mystic Siracusa.

The rooms were nice and the hotel was very clean, but the neighborhood wasn't very nice. We only got keys to our bedrooms, not to the hotel entrance. When we wanted to go out at night, the door was shut and nobody was there to let us out. We called and texted but got no answer, so we were trapped. That's why we gave it two stars.

The owners were so warm and attentive, and the rooms were comfortable. Vergilia is very close to the magnificent theater, which made it a strategic place to stay while attending performances of Greek tragedies in Syracuse. If you like walking, you can stroll from there to Ortigia. I'll return to Vergilia whenever I visit Syracuse.
