La Casa delle Fate

The cosy mezzanine bedroom was comfortable, and the living area gave us a nice place to eat away from the heat of the day. We also loved the terrace for relaxing after sightseeing. The apartment was spotless, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. Its location is hard to beat, just steps from the sea, restaurants, and Ortigia’s historic sights. Luca was a welcoming, helpful host who shared local tips and checked that we had what we needed. Hard to do better than this place or its location.

Luca made the week especially relaxing. From booking through the end of the trip, he was fantastic. He met us by the roadside when we got out of the cab, took time to point out local sights and explain how to get off the tourist trail, and had left us wine and water, a lovely touch. We stayed in two different apartments during the week, both quiet, very clean, and well appointed. This felt like a real step up from an ordinary holiday rental, and we were impressed by the care Luca took to make us happy. We’ve just come back from a wonderful week and couldn’t have been happier with the whole stay in this beautiful, historic part of Siracusa.

The memory foam mattresses were as comfortable as ones in 5-star hotels, and we slept just like we do at home. The bathroom drains didn’t work perfectly, which is understandable in an old building. That small issue aside, this place became very special to my family. It had the convenient old-town location, good communication, and tasteful decor we’d found elsewhere, plus Luca’s care for every detail. He arranged the payment method that suited us, an airport transfer much cheaper than a taxi, and even asked my daughter which kind of bed she wanted. On arrival he spent nearly an hour showing us around and suggesting things to do in Ortigia and places to eat. Everything was impeccably clean, and you could tell Luca’s family had put their hearts into decorating it. We had a meal in Luca’s cute garden and took his suggestion for ice cream in town, the best gelato place. We were sad to leave and hope more guests get to enjoy a restful stay in Sicily.

Luca was always available if we needed him and very helpful. Apartment 14 is in a traditional old Sicilian apartment block, just a few minutes’ walk from good restaurants, cafes, bars, and Ortigia’s amazing buildings. Inside, it’s charming, comfortable, and peaceful, with everything needed for a great stay. There’s plenty of hot water, air conditioning, and a comfortable bed. The little terrace looks out over the rooftops and gets afternoon sun. I’d certainly stay again if I return to Ortigia.
