I paid €63 and showed up exactly at my 20:00 check-in time, but nobody came. I was left outside in the dark for at least ten minutes, pressing the buzzer several times. Another nearby hotel, BeBIGEA, luckily called me a room, and I'm grateful for that. I'd give this zero stars if I could. I don't know whether the positive reviews are fake, but this felt very much like a scam.

We booked through booking.com more than a month ahead and traveled all the way from Phoenix Arizona, only to have the worst experience ever. We arrived at 4 and contacted the host, who told us we couldn't come until 5:30. At 5:20 we messaged to say we were waiting. After 5:30 passed and then 5:40, nobody answered the doorbell at number 22, the number we'd been given. We emailed and called until he finally came down with a young boy. He spoke loudly, and we couldn't understand him, so I handed over my phone to translate. A long message appeared and then was deleted when he gave the phone back. I showed him it hadn't come through, and he got angry, waving his hands and yelling about Americans and English. He said he didn't speak English. We only wanted to know where our parking space was, and he said it was number eight. No wonder the bell wasn't answered, we had been ringing at 22, as the listing said. He gestured for my husband to follow him down the street, but we still didn't know where we were supposed to go. When I asked him to show us, he slammed his hand on a wall and said, “Here, right here,” as if we should have known. Then he started shouting F-bombs in front of his child. I remarked that his English sounded pretty good, which made him even angrier. People on the street were watching, his child had moved away, and we were just standing there confused. He yelled “Reception” and told us to go somewhere else, that we weren't staying there. That suited me fine because there was no way I was staying on his property. We said we wouldn't pay, found a really nice place for the night, and left Syracuse the next morning.

The room was filthy, and I couldn't sleep during my stay. Although the listing said otherwise, the host came into the property every day to “clean,” which felt like an excuse to intrude. He'd yell loudly on the phone each time, leaving me stressed and uncomfortable. He also locked the kitchen, so I couldn't use the fridge or basic facilities. One night he even turned off the electricity. The room became unbearably hot and humid, and bugs came out in the middle of the night. From the moment I arrived, the host who met me was vulgar and hostile, and I felt unsafe. He was my only contact, and despite trying, I couldn't reach anyone else to raise my concerns. This was the worst Airbnb stay I've ever had. I strongly advise against booking this place. It was unsafe and unsanitary, and the host's behavior was unacceptable.

Fabrizio was friendly, welcoming, and full of useful advice about what to do in Siracusa. I especially liked having books about the city's museums, exhibitions, and historic sights to browse. There's also a board on the wall with tips for things to see and places to eat. Mythos accomodation was quiet and well located, about a pleasant 20-minute walk from Ortigia's historic center, close to the old Ruins and the bus station. The apartment was very clean and well equipped. I didn't use the kitchen, but the host kept snacks, coffee, and tea available. The bed was very comfy, and the bathroom was spotless, modern, and huge, with a big shower. Highly recommended.
