Hotel Degli Oleandri

You step outside the entrance, turn right, and there’s the Castle. The location is incredible, right in the centre, but the hotel is on a quiet street, so we slept peacefully. Our room was cosy, clean, tastefully decorated, and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to anyone visiting Sirmione!

The only problem was that the Wi-Fi didn’t work at all in our room. Everything else was lovely: the hotel was super clean, breakfast was amazing, and the terrace and solarium had an out-of-this-world view. Nadya and Alan were especially great. They suggested lots of good places to eat and things to do, and helped us with directions around the streets. The hotel, and especially its staff, was the best part of our trip.

The room and service went beyond what we expected, and we were extremely happy with our stay. Though it’s rated 3 stars, I’d say the experience was at a 4 or 5 star level. We got to Sirmione very early, and the staff kindly minded our luggage while we explored and waited for the room. They even let us sit in the bar for a drink outside opening hours. Breakfast was included and spectacular, with a buffet of delicious options for everyone. We also paid €5 per person to have it on the terrace, where the view of the lake and distant towns was breathtaking. Our room was cleaned every day, and the woman who looked after it did an amazing job. She was friendly, happy to help, and gave us tips about places to try nearby. Please pass on our thanks if the hotel manager sees this. We didn’t catch her name, but she had black curly hair and cleaned room 36 on July 24, 25, and 26. We wanted to leave her something, but learned she wasn’t working on our departure day.

The staff were so accommodating when we arrived early in Sirmione: they stored our luggage while we explored and let us relax in the bar with a drink before it officially opened. Breakfast came with our booking, and the buffet had a wide range of delicious options. We also booked the terrace breakfast for €5 per person. The view over the lake and nearby towns was stunning, and the whole experience was unforgettable. Housekeeping deserves a mention too. The woman who cleaned our room every day did an outstanding job, was very friendly, and made sure we had what we needed. She also shared helpful ideas for local places to visit.
