We loved the calm throughout the shared spaces, and enjoyed the wonderful views. The owners were so kind and tactful, and let us try excellent organic wines from their winery. We also had a lovely light lunch on the terrace by the inviting pool. My husband and I had an amazing holiday at this fabulous farm. Thank you! We’ll be back. Emma & Joseph

The pool was clean, with trees around it giving welcome shade on hot summer days. Solferino is a pleasant village with nice restaurants and a very good bakery, and it’s about a 15-20 minute drive to the lake, either Peschiera or Desenzano. The hosts are welcoming and happy to answer questions. The place is stylish, green, and full of nature, in a beautiful, quiet setting. They serve vegetarian food, and breakfast is all local produce with bold flavours. The vineyards and fruit trees on the estate go into good wine, tasty nectar, and marmalade. Four lovely cats and two turtles also brightened our days. I strongly recommend Solimago and thank the hosts for a lovely stay.

It’s been two years since my first stay, and I’ve just come back. Solimago is still incredible. You arrive with a heavy heart and leave feeling peaceful and happy. The apartments and rooms are comfortable, set in historic buildings among beautiful, mature gardens. The owners and staff are wonderful, the food is fresh and local, and the pool is lovely. It’s so relaxing you may not want to leave. Heavenly.

Solimago is gorgeous: a listed property with a romantic garden and, for the past few years, a stylish, spacious pool. We’ve returned many times over the years because of the place itself and the kind people who work there. But the female owner’s manner and professionalism, if she ever had it, have got worse over time. She harasses guests and comes across as cynical and pedantic. You can get a sense of it from her replies to critical reviews here. One family left after two days, though they had planned to stay for two weeks, because she insulted them over their children laughing and playing. We knew what we were getting into, but at these prices, and given how lovely the property is, I wish she would retire, or at least step away from guest-facing work, so someone with manners and professionalism could take over. I’m giving one star to show the huge gap between the beautiful place, and the other kind staff, and the owner’s deeply irritating behaviour. She’s ruining a lot of what could make Solimago an extraordinary holiday home. I wonder what mean reply she’ll write to this.
