Hotel Metropole

Friendly staff were always around if anything came up, and I couldn't fault the hotel. Breakfast had a good selection, lunch was good, and the pool was usually quiet, though busy on Saturdays and Sundays. We met some nice people there. Town is a 10-15 minute walk away. You can also catch a small bus from the local campsite, with two each hour from 7:20 am to 11:20 pm. It costs 2 euros and makes just one stop.

The staff were wonderful, warm and welcoming, always checking that we were enjoying ourselves and happy to help with anything. The hotel itself is charming, with beautiful tiled floors, and the rooms are simple, comfortable, and clean. It's a great location, about a 15-minute walk downhill into town with lovely views along the way. We'll definitely come back for that hospitality.

We had a wonderful ten-day stay, made easy by such personable staff who kept everything relaxed and comfortable. The half-board option gave us flexibility, with a varied choice of evening meals, all served by friendly, attentive staff. Our room was spotless and made up every day as if it were our first. The pool reached a respectable 26, and the bar service there was wonderful.

For a three-star place, this hotel was brilliant. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble, and breakfast had plenty of choice. Our front-facing room was spacious, spotlessly clean, with lots of storage and everything we needed. The sea and Vesuvius views were stunning. Although the road outside is busy, the double glazing and shutters meant it didn't disturb our sleep, and the room had heating and air conditioning. The walk back from town is along the busy road, or you can take the bus. About 10 minutes of the 30-minute walk has no pavement, but that wasn't a problem for us, and there was plenty to look at on the way. We stayed 11 nights and would definitely return to Sorrento and stay here again.
