Hotel Villa Igea

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely, clean hotel. The pool was nice and quiet. The walk into sorrento was the only downside, as the roads are dangerous. Luckily, there's a shuttle bus right outside the door, and it was great. I'd recommend this place.

The location worked well enough, and our room was a decent size, but the condition of it was hard to overlook. The air conditioner, walls, and bed linen were visibly dirty, and the beds felt hard and cold. One morning I even found live maggots inside my sneakers in the room. Dinner wasn't much better: dirty glasses, bad-tasting fruit juice, no gluten-free option or accommodation, and some waiters who weren't helpful. We were there a few weeks ago as part of a tour group. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

The room smelled strange and wasn't clean, and the halls had worrying cracks and a damp odor that seemed like it could be mold. The pool was poorly maintained and there were no towels. Breakfast was mediocre, with stale bread and old eggs. The machine juice was the only thing that was okay. Staff were no help at all, and the front desk said I wouldn't get a refund before I'd even said anything. There was no shuttle, so we paid 30 euros one way just to get into town. The view from our room was the only pretty part. The power went out as we were taking our luggage out of the car. We were told it affected the whole area, but later learned that wasn't true. Calling themselves a 3 star hotel is laughable. Don't book if you want to enjoy your trip.

The pool was great, though the place smelled funny. There's no shuttle downtown, so you need to use public transit. A ride is only 2 euros, and buses come around often enough, but their timing is unpredictable.
