Villa Harriet

The bathroom has no lock, and this is a room-by-room rental. We called the police in the end, and their arrival made it feel safer to leave with our children and belongings. In the morning, the owner came into our room without knocking while my youngest was getting dressed. He refused to leave when I said she was naked, insisting it was his place. The night before, he had woken us by shouting about kitchen rubbish and food in the fridge, even though there was no clear instruction against using it. We had respected the note saying the food inside wasn't for guests. He dumped the rubbish on the kitchen table, then left it in bags outside our rooms. When I asked him to be quiet because the children were asleep, he only shouted louder. He went upstairs to his room eventually, but then messaged me on WhatsApp insisting we check out at 9:30 AM, despite a note on the door saying 10:30 AM. I first stayed here with friends, then returned with my family. The owner replied quickly to questions, but hadn't explained how to handle rubbish or use the door lock. We had rented the whole place for a weekend and were the only guests. He left his dog alone on the first night and wasn't there when we arrived. Later, he sent angry WhatsApp messages about the rubbish. I'm still not sure why someone had entered the apartment we had rented, since we hadn't asked for cleaning during our three-night stay. After my friends left, I booked two rooms for my family, and that became a nightmare. This isn't somewhere I'd stay, even for one night.

The owner was aggressive, and the amenities were in bad shape. There was no lock on the bathroom. During the night, he woke us by making a racket and breaking things in the kitchen. When we asked him to be quieter, he shouted that we'd left food in the fridge and rubbish in the bin, then dumped it all onto the kitchen table. The next morning he walked into our room while my daughter was getting dressed. We had to call the police to calm him down. Staying there with my four small children was traumatic. My hands are still sweating as I write this. Please don't take the risk of staying there.

We found the rooms clean, and breakfast was great. When we asked for something different, the owner arranged it for us. He's a wonderful guy and made our trip much more enjoyable.

He argues with customers a lot and even goes into rooms where young children are staying. There's something very dubious about this man.
