We tried both the junior suite and the triple room. They were clean and had everything we needed, though the bathrooms were basic and could use some renovation. I’d recommend the suite for its easy pool access and the sweet lounge area and garden in front, especially nice with a glass of wine in the evening. It’s a peaceful retreat in a beautiful spot, with lovely, helpful staff and excellent service. Breakfast was very nice, and we enjoyed coffee and a croissant on the terrace each morning. The pool area has a lovely view, and the evening aperitif and appetisers were a treat. Everything felt like good value for money.

There’s a lot to like here, especially the superb, friendly staff, who are quick to help. The clean, large pool and just 10 rooms make the place tranquil during the day when guests are out on trips. It’s remote and quiet at night, with no traffic noise, and we slept well. The setting has downsides, though. Siena is 15 minutes away, but it feels like the middle of nowhere: just olive fields, no nearby restaurants or cafes, and no paths for a walk. You need a car. The pool is cold compared with the Spanish ones we’re used to. Rooms feel dark, dated, and worn, with dripping taps and a poor shower. Breakfast also falls short, with no hot food, just bread and yogurt. The hotel needs major renovation and perhaps a rethink of what it wants to be.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and there’s a restaurant within walking distance. It’s in a great country location. The pool looked refreshing, though we didn’t get a chance to use it.
