We had really good food at both dinner and breakfast, and the staff were friendly and professional. The hotel is lovely, and the rooms facing the water are especially charming. Waking up to the view and the sound of the water felt unusual in the best way. The island gets busy with tourists during the day, then becomes peaceful in the evening. Ferries run often, though you'll need to plan around them. Highly recommended.

The service and atmosphere spoiled the evening for us. Nobody checked in on our table, and the waiters seemed indifferent to the guests. Although everyone got their dishes at the same time and the food was decent, the plating felt like a canteen, with little care or refinement. The sparse table setting made it feel more like a casual café than a high-end restaurant. Given the very high prices, that level of service was unacceptable, even with the beautiful setting.

We had our wedding welcome dinner at Il Verbano the night before the ceremony. The weather forced us to move everyone inside at the last minute, but the room was still beautiful. The food and service were outstanding, and our guests kept complimenting the restaurant.

We didn't try the food, so can't comment on that, but the coffee was warm and savory. There’s a lovely garden where you can sit outside with a drink and enjoy the beautiful view across Lago Maggiore.
