Hotel Ossidiana Stromboli Center

There was no WiFi the night I stayed. I’d checked in quickly, left my luggage, and gone out for a trekking tour. When I got back late, I messaged the hotel WhatsApp and heard nothing. The next morning they said the modem was broken and they were trying to fix it. I had to raise the issue myself to get a response, and there was no apology or compensation. I was only there one night, so it wasn’t a huge problem, but it shouldn’t happen at a three star hotel. The breakfast was fine, with a decent variety, and the room was pleasant with lots of plants, though the tables and seats were dirty and weren’t cleaned promptly. The location is great, about 3 minutes from the port and right by the way into town or to the beach. My assigned room wasn’t the one I’d seen on booking. It was a bit antique, more like a b&b than a hotel room, but that wasn’t the worst part and did give it some local character. For the same budget, I might look at other options.

A horrible hotel experience. The young man with glasses serving breakfast was very rude. I asked for black tea, but his box was empty. He argued with me and rudely said they had no black tea, had no tea at all, and that I should drink more tea. Terrible.

Mariela was kind enough to wait for us and let us check in, even though we’d gone for our first walk around Stromboli and didn’t know they closed briefly at 1 pm. She even called ahead to let us know. Mille grazie! It’s a nice place to stay right by the sea in Stromboli, close to the piers.

Our room was clean, bright, and cheerful, with a beautiful view of the volcano, and the port is conveniently close. Breakfast normally starts at 7, but we had booked the 7:15 ferry and would have missed it. They let us come down at 6:45 instead, and breakfast was ready and delicious.
