This family hotel has a 50 year history. The rooms are simple and look onto the courtyard garden, with a view over the vulcano. There’s no breakfast, but there’s a kettle in the room with tea and coffee. A grocery shop next door makes it easy to pick up breakfast yourself.

A torch is a must at night, so don’t forget one! The hotel was a great base for exploring the interesting village of Stromboli and hiking up the volcano. Our room was quite large, comfortable, and clean. Breakfast had everything we wanted, and the coffee was fantastic, as you’d expect in Italy. The hosts welcomed us warmly and gave us useful tips on where to have dinner, buy food for the Volcano tour, and hike around the village.

They were great about checking whether our ferry was running in the bad weather and letting us know, and they sorted out a taxi and an early breakfast for us. The staff were helpful and service was great. The room was clean, very quiet and dark, with a hot shower. The bed was a little hard.

The hotel is informal and welcoming, and very well placed. Its own supermarket has excellent prices for the island, which is really handy. Bars, restaurants, and cafes, including the nicest ones on Stromboli, are practically across the street. There are two outdoor areas, one facing Strombolocchio and the other looking toward the volcano. I brought my e-bike and could park it inside the hotel for free without any problem.
