We had a very pleasant stay and no real complaints. Getting there was easy despite the narrow streets, and the welcome was warm. They showed us where to park, and the staff were pleasant, helpful and accommodating all the way from check-in to check-out. Our room was lovely, in a converted old convent that was clearly historic but well cared for. The fan and air conditioning let us set the temperature comfortably. The bathroom was well laid out, and although the shower was small, it caused us no problems. It was nice to explore parts of the convent, including the old well in the courtyard, and we got to see the connected chapel, a small but impressive church built in the 14th century. We were sorry the restaurant wasn't open, though the local dining recommendations were welcome. Susa was easy to explore on foot, and the Christmas lights and decorations made evening walks lovely. Breakfast was simple but well stocked, with good coffee, plenty of choice, and especially a good range of gluten-free products.

We booked through Booking.com because we’d stayed here before and liked the hotel and its location. We had to cancel after a ferry strike disrupted our journey, and gave 48 hours’ notice. The hotel wouldn’t refund us, unlike another hotel that got only 24 hours’ notice and was much more understanding. They eventually agreed to change our dates, but the new ferry times didn’t work for us. We’re now €175 out of pocket and won’t book with them again. We know business is business, but a little compassion helps a business too.

We booked a family room and a single room to fit our group. Both were tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful, and the free parking for guests is a huge plus. There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. I recommend booking a table ahead!

The historic hotel is amazing, and the courtyard alone makes it worth staying. The views are fantastic too. My only criticism is the very liberal pet policy. At breakfast, one guest had a barking dog in the courtyard, which was fine, but then carried it indoors while collecting food and coffee. That was nasty, and no staff member said anything. It ruined my breakfast. I love dogs outside, but if they have to come indoors, they should sit quietly under the table.
