Poggio al Vento

This recently restored home was spotlessly clean and well maintained, and the hosts were always ready to help and knew the area well. We had an amazing family holiday here, and it suited both large and small groups. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, each with its own bathroom, and the beds and linens were excellent. The kitchen is well equipped. We visited in March and found the heating very efficient, and there’s a nice fireplace too. The tasteful decor makes it a real gem. Right in Tuscany and the Chianti region, it’s well placed for scenic drives and pretty towns, with Florence, Siena, and San Gimignano close enough for day trips. There are good restaurants nearby, from simple to fancy. Hope we can return soon.

The hosts were fabulous and so helpful, and our kids and grandparents loved the stay too. There’s heaps for the whole family to do nearby, though we also enjoyed spending time at the house. The restored home sits on a hill surrounded by the beauty of Chianti, and one of our group said the view was like the backdrop of the Mona Lisa. The beds were comfy, there were lots of bathrooms, and the place felt homey and welcoming. The kitchen was easy to use, and there was great trail running nearby.

The garden and main bedrooms look out over a landscape that could be a Leonardo da Vinci painting. Poggio a Vento is a beautifully restored, authentic Tuscan farmhouse in the Chianti hills, beside a lovely Chapel. It’s only a 15 minute drive into Firenze, so it’s a good spot to get a bit of respite from the Tuscan capital’s bustle. I’d highly recommend it for a family holiday. Tavis

The setting was spectacular, with wonderful views of the Chianti region, while Florence and Siena were easy to reach. Our large family group had plenty of comfortable space in the spacious house, which has been lovingly restored. The owners paid close attention to the tasteful furnishings and decor.
