Domus Cavour Rooms&Suites

I stayed here in October. The hotel is clean, has what you need for a comfortable stay, and sits in the heart of the old town. I booked online as an international traveler, but there was only a part-time receptionist or phone contact. I had to make an international call, which was extremely inconvenient. They should tell guests about that when they book. The room temperature was fine early in the evening, but kept climbing past 25 degrees, making it impossible to sleep. The window has a safety hinge and opens at the top, but it was very heavy and stiff. Someone did come to open the door for me. At night, outside noise kept disturbing my sleep. For a charge of 140 plus euros, the owner should provide reasonable accommodation for the price. Businesses like this save costs with reduced reception hours, but can’t resolve problems promptly, while taking a prepaid deposit just like a properly staffed hotel. I found another guest had the same problem in the same room a year earlier. Surprisingly, they kept selling the room. We need to speak up as consumers. This isn’t okay.

The hotel was very clean and tidy, and the service was standard. We ate at the restaurant and really liked it. Prices were reasonable.

Breakfast was delicious, with a great selection, and the room was spacious and clean. It’s a mostly flat walk from the train station, around 8-10 minutes. Had a lovely stay, thanks for a great visit. Five stars!

The rooftop terrace has fantastic views, and the lounge was a nice spot to sit, with water and vending available. The hotel’s in a quaint part of Tirano, with modern design inside, reasonable prices, and nice restaurants nearby. Our room was comfortable but a bit small. It had a small refrigerator and decent air conditioning. The bathroom was quite tight, with almost no room for toiletries or shower products, and there was no iron. It could make a good home base for a few days, whether you’re going to Lake Como, into the Alps, perhaps on the Bernina Express, or even to Milan. Check whether trains from Colico are running if you’re heading that way, as they’re currently replaced by buses in preparation for the Milan Olympics.
