Mignon

The location is very nice, but the rooms need a deep refurbishment. There’s no air conditioning, and the door doesn’t have a proper lock: they give out a pass-par-tout key, meaning every guest can open every room at any time. The toilet has new tiles stuck cheaply over the old ones. It feels like a business that hasn’t been maintained or actively invested in by the owner for decades.

We never stayed here, and I’d give negative stars if I could. When we arrived, the hotel was locked and looked dilapidated, like a haunted house, so we called to check we had the right place. The woman who answered said she only spoke Italian, asked if we had a reservation, and hung up after I said yes and tried to spell our name. She wouldn’t answer again. My husband speaks English and German, but we were stranded in a foreign country with a hotel that didn’t speak either language. We arranged another place through Airbnb, but this hotel still charged a $130.00 “no show” fee. Booking.com said the hotel made the charge and they couldn’t help us get the money back. They both suck!

With a sea view and a quiet setting, this is a charming, simple little family-run hotel. The accommodation is good quality, right beside a first-class cultural heritage monument, and there are excellent, frequent public transport connections to the center of Trieste.

The sea views from Hotel Mignon are spectacular, and every room has one. The rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast was quite nice, and the staff were so kind that it felt like being at home. Best panorama of all the hotels in Trieste!
