Clocchiatti

I can't recommend the Villa, especially room 207. The rooms in the main building aren't soundproof, so traffic noise carried on through the night, and there was an overpowering smell of mothballs or pest repellent. The rooms seem to vary a lot; the annexes are probably closer to the pictures in the listing. No one asked how my stay was when I checked out, so I'm leaving this feedback here.

The price didn't feel justified. The room was mostly okay, but it smelled, though I couldn't tell whether it was the carpet or the drapes, and I found a few insects. The toilet was generally clean, except the seat hadn't been cleaned. Breakfast was average; we found better coffee and pastries at the bakery. The gentleman preparing it seemed annoyed when approached, and service overall felt poor. Late check-in may be a problem. The app said check-in began at 2 p.m. but, as far as I could tell, didn't mention it ended at 8 p.m. There was nobody at reception later in the evening. The room's bright orange and pitch-black colors weren't to my taste, though someone else might like them. Most rooms are in an annex that looks as if it used to be a storage building or barn. Not the worst hotel I've stayed in, but these issues made the stay less pleasant.

We liked it so much that we returned twice more during our trip, enjoying each stay. Hotel Clocchiatti Next was a lovely find, with well-appointed rooms in both the new and old sections and very friendly, helpful owners and staff. Breakfast was exceptional, and the secure parking was an appreciated surprise since street parking is hard to find. The old town, shops, restaurants, and cafes are all within walking distance. There's also a nice bar, and you can take a drink outside and enjoy it by the pool.

We only stayed one night, but we'll definitely return. The hosts were warm, genuine, and accommodating, and we felt very comfortable. The breakfast was great, and the room and hotel were designed with real skill. It's very central, just a few minutes' walk from the city center. A tasteful hotel with friendly staff. If you can get a room here, there's no need to look further.
