The hosts were so thoughtful and helpful. They gave us an early breakfast when we asked, then drove us 5 km down the valley so we could begin the next leg of our walk. The food was delicious, the furnishings were good, and the location was spectacular. Staying in an old fort was a unique experience.

The food alone could make a foodie change their travel plans to book a table. We had the seasonal four-course menu, full of flavor, with highlights like risotto with venison and blueberry and semifreddo made partly with leftover chestnut bread. Chef Fabrizio works with fresh local produce and gives traditional dishes a creative twist. The cooking felt ecological, pure, honest, and skillfully done. The restaurant is superb, and the owners are just as lovely and helpful. We also appreciated their help when someone in our group had a minor injury. They quickly arranged transport through the remote valley at a fair price, so we could carry on with our day. The hotel, Le Vieux Quartier, is in a charming old army barracks among the mountains, an ideal stop for hikers, skiers, or anyone who wants to enjoy the chef's cooking. Rooms are simple but have the comforts you need. Dear mr. Fabrizio and his lovely wife whose name I forgot, thank you for a wonderful stay.

Please contact me to arrange a refund. I prepaid for a reservation, but when we arrived the place was closed, apparently for months. DO NOT BOOK HERE!
