The hotel feels stuck in the 20th century, with the kind of attitudes many people today dislike: appearance judging, pets treated as things rather than family, and exclusivity instead of inclusion. Leave the hoodie and Crocs at home, apparently, and go buy an expensive evening gown. There are no vegan dinner options. Respect yourself and choose somewhere whose owners and staff actually care about guests. The food was a major disappointment. The five-course dinner was tasteless, and breakfast was too, with the added risk of food poisoning. A waiter judged me for not knowing “this famous Italian pasta sauce,” and the water they offered cost €6 a bottle, which I only found out at the end. At dinner, a family at the neighboring table couldn’t control their kids, who ran and screamed around the restaurant and scared my dog. When I had a problem, staff ignored me and offered no help. The old rooms have no sound insulation. You can hear other guests snoring and flushing, and the toilet keeps filling and draining because the flush button gets stuck in the wall. There’s crystal and a candelabra around, plus Bvlgari cosmetics in the bathroom, if that matters to you. They also give no guidance about included hotel services. You have to hunt through the last pages of the spa brochure, after the long descriptions of paid services, to find the sauna temperatures. If you bring a dog, there are no bowls or treats in the room. They can provide them, but only if you ask. Is that really five-star service?

The food was the highlight for us: amazing breakfasts, even better dinners, and wonderful cakes in the afternoon. Our suite had a living room and two balconies, with an attractive view, and both the room and bathroom were very clean. The indoor and outdoor pools were warm and pleasant, too. We’ve just come back from ten days at Alpenpalace and had a wonderful time. On arrival we got a personal guide to the hotel, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We also borrowed the free e-bikes and, with tips from the front desk, visited some lovely places. Absolutely deserves five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I drove four hours from Milan looking forward to celebrating my birthday here, but left severely disappointed. The resort promotes wellness, meditation and relaxation, yet doesn’t seem to care about guest comfort. There’s no air conditioning, and the hotel advised us to keep the windows open. Flies got into the bedroom and we didn’t sleep well. I wouldn’t stay here again. There were flies everywhere, including landing on our food at dinner. When we asked if anything could be done, staff said they had no solution. Seeing flies on the buffet left me with no appetite. I’m pregnant, so food hygiene matters a lot to me, and the infestation at a “5-star resort” was shocking. Flies also kept landing on me during the facial I booked for my birthday. I was waving them away and clearly bothered, but the staff acted as if this was normal, so I couldn’t relax at all. Service was severely lacking. Nobody was available to help with our bags when we arrived. One person was working reception and seemed flustered and overworked because they were understaffed. We waited over 30 minutes to check in despite there being no one else in line. He was clearly doing his best and was extremely kind, so the extra star goes to him. Dinner service was abominable. The food took forever and tasted as if it had been sitting out for a long time. The service felt below even a three-star hotel.

We loved this fantastic family-run resort. Colin, the Northern Irish Manager, is quite a character and couldn’t do enough for us.

We stayed for three nights on our honeymoon, and it’s easily the best hotel we’ve ever visited. You can see why it has five stars as soon as you drive in. For us, it was excellent value for money, with daily spa treatments, meditations, guided hikes, and guided mountain bike tours on offer. The hotel is in a beautiful part of the valley, with excellent Panasonic views of the mountains. Breakfast and dinner were excellent, and we already miss the food after checking out today. The staff made our honeymoon feel special, and we’re so grateful. I don’t think anyone would regret staying here!
