Hotel Serena

I stayed for two nights and found the place quiet, with an excellent spot in the lovely center of Varazze, just a five-minute walk from the sea. My room was large and clean, with TV and air conditioning. The bathroom was new, spacious, clean, and had a shower, though there was no hairdryer. They let me leave my bags there, so I could enjoy my last day at the beach. Good value, and I recommend it.

It's an older hotel, but clean, and the bathrooms have been renovated. The location is great for getting to the beach and restaurants. We paid €88 for two adults and our 4-year-old, which seemed like excellent value compared with some online prices. It's not luxurious, but it was clean and comfortable, so things like marble and glass details didn't matter much.

The best thing about the hotel is its location, close to the sea and the village's main pedestrian street. We booked just one night through Booking.com. The property and furnishings are quite dated, though the bathrooms have been renovated recently. There isn't guest parking, and finding a spot was a hassle. The price feels high for what's provided, but it's fine for a stay of one or two nights.

The location was excellent, near the station, beaches, center, clubs, markets, and other amenities. Our rooms were spacious and generally clean, but the view onto an apartment building was awful. We couldn't open the curtains without risking someone seeing us. We stayed three nights, and our towels were never changed. Shampoo wasn't replenished in the mornings, shower caps were missing, and I had to ask for a hairdryer since one wasn't included in the bathroom. Also, there are no free beaches, only resorts.
