Sweet Venice Guest House

The apartment was small and cozy, with a kitchen that had everything. It was in a very good, quiet location, and the room and bathroom were clean, though the shower could have been cleaner. We had to go somewhere else to pick up the keys and towels, but the girl at reception was very friendly. They also let us take a shower before checking in.

The staff were friendly, and after a storm caused several leaks across the kitchen, both bedrooms, and the corridor, they cleaned everything up a few hours later. It all looked fine again. Everything was super clean, and it seems like a very good option for budget travelers. The leaks are why I’m giving it three stars.

We had a comfortable stay and no complaints. The rooms were clean and spacious, the central AC worked well, and the Wi-Fi gave us no trouble. I was skeptical after reading earlier reviews, but wanted a budget place and was pleasantly surprised. A few practical things: check-in and key pickup happen at a separate location about seven minutes away, which is easy to find and mentioned in the policy. The property itself is easy to locate on Google Maps, or by its number once you’re in the area. They take a security deposit of about 70 euros at check-in and refund it right away, so bring a credit card. Linens are changed every fourth day; the extra charge applies if you request a change before then. Just don’t expect hotel-style service from a guesthouse.

The location was good, and there was a light breakfast in the kitchen, which was the one nice extra. Still, there’s room for improvement. We were charged extra for towels and a blanket on top of what we’d already paid, and neither was changed during our three-night stay.
