There’s a lot to like here: the hotel has Venetian character, with decorative, quaint rooms and hallways. The lobby and dining area look out over the Grand Canal, breakfast has a good variety and service, and the rooftop terrace offers a GREAT VIEW of Venice. My stay on Feb 18th, 2026 also included a couple of upsetting moments. At breakfast I wanted a window table facing the Grand Canal, but a waitress, a woman in her late 40s, told me, “breakfast over!” There were still at least 30 minutes before the dining area closed. I went to take a few quick photos, planning to ask reception about the hours afterward. When I came back, other hotel guests were sitting at the tables I’d wanted, and the waitress was asking what they wanted to drink. She hadn’t turned them away. I couldn’t help wondering whether she’d stopped me because of my ethnicity, which was extremely upsetting. I also complained to the front desk after a cleaning lady came into my room without knocking, hours before checkout. That felt extremely unprofessional.

The location is excellent, close to the Vaporetto and next to the ferry boat. Breakfast was good, and the room was nice, though it didn’t get very warm in winter.

The hotel was immaculate, and breakfast was superb. Our room was very spacious and had a great balcony view. It’s also in a great location, near some fabulous restaurants.

The location is the only thing this terrible hotel has going for it. It calls itself 4*, but I’d struggle to give it 2*. Our first room was a mess: the shower barely worked, the carpets were patchy, the window mechanism was broken, and the air conditioning was useless. After we complained, we got a better room with a better shower, good air conditioning and a comfortable bed. The minibar was one miniature bottle of Jack Daniels, with nothing else, not even water. There is supposedly a bar, but it was closed throughout our three-night stay. Whatever work was being done didn’t seem to move along at all; the tools never moved an inch. The roof terrace was dirty, had no shade or service, and felt like a soulless empty space. Breakfast was very disappointing too. Reception was often unmanned, and when someone was there, the service could be rude and dismissive. Our credit card company is now taking this forward because what we received was nowhere near what the hotel presents itself as.

Foscari palace is an old building that’s been well maintained, with a very big, clean room. The five-star breakfast is included in the room price. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Venice on a budget. Thank you!
