JW Venice

I loved taking morning walks around the island. It was a magical way to start the day, and the resort’s peaceful setting and lovely views made it feel special. The spa was elegant and relaxing, too, and I highly recommend it. I was here for three nights during the Marriott EMEA Owners & Partners Conference. My room was spacious and comfortable, with everything I needed. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Special thanks to Virginia, the manager at Sagra Restaurant, and Josephine for their kindness and great service. I can’t wait to return.

After a day in Venice, it’s great to have a quiet, relaxing place to come back to. The shuttle boats are always on time, though you do need to plan around them. The rooftop bar and pool are a lovely spot for sunset, and both the room service and included breakfast buffet were great, the breakfast was the best! The JW is an amazing property, with fantastic amenities and a great staff. I’ll definitely stay again.

The room was spacious and comfortable after the staff upgraded us to a Junior Suite, but that was the only real bright spot. The arrival logistics were stressful and poorly coordinated, and we lost much of our short two-day stay. I honestly wouldn’t return even for a free stay. The hotel’s own island sounds exclusive, but getting there was inconvenient. At the Venice pickup point there were no clear signs or staff to guide us. We arrived around 3 PM during normal check-in hours, but the shuttle runs only once an hour. The alternative is a private water taxi costing about €100 each way. Finding the pickup spot, waiting, taking the shuttle, and checking in took nearly three hours. Going back and forth to the main city, especially in the evenings, is difficult and left us feeling isolated, so we couldn’t enjoy Venice properly. Breakfast was very basic with limited options, nowhere near JW Marriott standards. The pool wasn’t heated and the jacuzzi was cold, so relaxing there wasn’t possible despite the nice setting. Venice has many beautiful, more convenient hotels, and this one wasn’t worth the hassle.

The one real downside was housekeeping, which fell short, probably because of logistical issues. We told the hotel, but weren’t compensated, though we hadn’t asked for anything either. Otherwise, we loved our stay at the JW. It’s on a beautiful, calm island with trees and plenty of amenities, so there’s enough to do, and Venice is only a quick 20-minute ride away. The spa is a must. Staff throughout were kind and professional, everyone accommodated our requests, and the restaurant on site was surprisingly good.
