The rooms look nice, and the friendly reception staff were consistently helpful. The location is excellent, though the hotel is down a quiet alley that might feel a little intimidating late at night. I found dust under the bed, so the room could use a deeper clean. We also had to ask at the desk before housekeeping replenished the toilet paper. Breakfast was my main concern and is easy to skip. It varied from day to day: some mornings there was juice, others only water, and once there was muesli but no milk. The ham wasn’t very good either. Even with those small issues, I thought the hotel was good value for a three-night stay, and the nice rooms outweighed the inconveniences. I’d recommend it, with the suggestion to pass on breakfast.

We arrived around 2:30 AM, and when we switched on the air conditioning around 4, the power went out. We were exhausted and didn’t contact reception then, so we slept until 8 AM. After we reported it, staff took three hours to come up with a fix: switching off the air conditioning in the other room, which had been causing the grid to trip. Thankfully, it was empty. I wonder what they would have asked those guests to do if someone had been staying there. We’d booked a studio so we could prepare some food for my service dog, but without power all morning, we couldn’t do that. Before booking, we’d asked reception about a late checkout because we were arriving late in Venice, and the receptionist had already extended it to 12. When I asked Michael for a partial refund, he refused and said they had resolved the power problem. Instead, he offered an extra hour, worth €15, as his best gesture. He also said he wouldn’t charge for my service dog, though EU law doesn’t allow establishments to charge for one. It was a very unpleasant stay, and management didn’t take responsibility for what happened. Maybe this was a one-off, but their lack of concern for the guest experience says a lot about their attitude.

There’s no lift, and the basics need a lot of work. We had no phone sockets, conditioner or body wash, cups, coffee, tea, sugar, milk, or spoons. There was just one small bottle of water for two adults. The breakfast was very basic, poor really, and the bar only opens at 6 pm. Although this is classed as four-star, I’d rate it one. The taps also had no cold water for the first few days. Staff spoke okay English, but not perfectly.

Wonderful service, a fabulous room, and an amazing location. When we come back to Venice, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.
