Alloggi Barbaria

We had a great three-night stay at Alloggi Barbaria. The beds were really comfortable, breakfast was lovely, and all the staff were lovely too. There’s a fridge with drinks available to buy. It was an easy enough walk to see the sights, and I’d recommend staying here :)

The hosts' warmth and local tips were a real highlight, and the light breakfast came with genuinely excellent coffee. There are hot drinks in the room too, replenished regularly, plus a mini-fridge with complimentary beverages. Our spacious room was very clean, with comfortable bedding, heating, and air conditioning, and housekeeping came daily. During our five-day stay, I especially liked having the Ospedale water bus stop right there, with connections to Marco Polo Airport and the lagoon islands. Burano was easy to reach. San Marco is only a 5-10 minute walk away, while the quiet residential setting gives you a break from the crowds. The entrance is in what looks like a residential building, and you buzz in and head upstairs on your own. There isn't a formal front desk, but the welcome note on the room door made the place feel homey. It felt more like staying with gracious friends than checking into a hotel. A good fit for someone after a personal, home-like stay in Venice with a handy location.

The rooms were clean and spacious, the showers hot, and the A/C nice and cold. It's a simple B&B with an easy breakfast each morning, a calm start before stepping into the busy city. We found it very good value and would gladly come back. From the train station, it's about a 30-minute walk or 10 minutes by water bus. There’s a great grocery store nearby for snacks, and the docks offer a lovely view of the neighboring islands. Nothing fancy, but it suited us perfectly in Venice.

The area was peaceful compared with the rest of the city, and the location was handy for the ferries. Our room was roomy, comfortable, and super clean, with a hair dryer and fridge. I really liked it. I just wish there had been a mirror. Breakfast was the letdown, with very little variety and many important options missing. Apart from that, I highly recommend it.
