It was alright, though...

We only stayed for one night in mid-October, though it could work for a longer visit too. It's easy to find and just a couple of minutes from Mestre train station. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants around, so we skipped breakfast. Our room was cozy and clean, with the usual hotel basics, plus mosquito nets, a hairdryer, a small kettle and cups. There were at least five outlets and the internet was decent. We didn't try voice calls, which seemed a bit weak. Daily room cleaning would have been nice. There isn't a reception desk, but the hotel got in touch beforehand about our arrival time, and check-in went smoothly. They gave us a map, marked the main sights, and explained public transport, including routes, where to buy tickets and prices. We hadn't planned the trip in advance, so that was really useful. We could leave our bags in storage after checkout. The only real downside was the cold marble floor, with no slippers. We hadn't thought to bring our own.

I've never stayed somewhere worse. The room was deeply unwelcoming: a big patch of plaster was missing from the wall, the shower leaked and had mold, and the air conditioning was painfully loud. The bed was awful too. Worst of all, there seemed to be fleas or something similar in it. I felt them crawling all night and woke up with countless itchy bites on my legs. The extra €5 breakfast was a joke, and the dishes weren't clean. The area felt frightening in the evenings, and I wouldn't have gone outside alone.

The room was clean, with a Chinese grocery store nearby, and the bus station was close. The owner was friendly, and I had a good stay. I was planning to look around briefly the next day and then go straight home, but carrying my luggage was difficult. I asked the owner, and he kindly offered to store it for me.
