We'd decided to spend one more day in Venice, but the apartment we'd stayed in before had no vacancies. We picked the nearest place available, and its high rating persuaded us. That was a big mistake. We had a standard double room. Maybe the others are better, though I doubt it, but this one was awful. The real room was nothing like the clean, neat photos. The walls were peeling, everything was grimy, and things were falling apart. The shower smelled horrible. After one use, the stench spread through the whole room and wouldn't leave. With the window open, mosquitoes came in; with it closed, the room got stuffy. Turning on the AC meant a roar like a Boeing taking off right by your ear, so getting to sleep was a challenge. The soundproofing was basically nonexistent. Whenever someone moved in the hallway, I thought they'd come into our room. The shower lighting made me feel like I was in a Hangover movie in Bangkok, and the whole place had a shady vibe. Zenhotels listed the city tax as €2, but the owner asked us for €8. Some might call it good value, but it cost over €100 per night for this dump. Think about that. I'd gladly pay €50 more each night for somewhere better, even if it were farther from the center, since everything in Venice is close anyway. At €50 a night, this room would've been acceptable.
A quiet spot right in the heart of Venice, and a great room for a weekend. It had all the basics covered, including a coffee machine, AC, and hair dryer. The smart TV also had Netflix and other providers.
We got a tidy, cozy room in a lovely Venice hotel 😍. It was nicely decorated and quiet, right in the city center. The air conditioner worked well, and the many thoughtful extras made us feel valued: sanitizer, welcome mini chocolates, bottled water, refreshing napkins, an electric fly swatter racket, a safe box, steamer, hair dryer, and even a first aid kit. At check-in, they gave us good advice on where to eat, prices, and other ways to enjoy our time in Venice. Highly recommend.
Finding the place was easy. Google Maps took me straight there when I searched for "First Dream Venice." It's in the heart of Venice, in a building over 500 years old, and my room was clean with everything I needed. The host was friendly and on time, and his calm, helpful manner made the trip less stressful. For getting to the airport, I found the water bus most convenient. San Marco stop was a short walk away, with only one bridge on the route.
The room matched the pictures and even had a few little gifts waiting. It was a very nice, quiet, comfortable place. I absolutely recommend it!
