Ca' Leon D'Oro

We had booked two beds, but found just one, with only one blanket. The water was cold, and only later did the host message us to reset the central boiler, so we’d already had a cold shower. The shower sink didn’t work properly, and one power socket was dead. When we returned, we found that the key in the room didn’t open the building door; the hotel sent us a link to open it ourselves. Why wasn’t that link sent before? On arrival, nobody was there to let us in, and the phone line was busy. After 15 minutes, someone pressed the buzzer remotely.

The stay was peaceful, though I’d expected a little more. The location was nice, and Giorgio was kind and always answered our calls, since nobody was at the desk during the day. The mattresses weren’t great, and the bathroom accessories were very basic, but the air conditioning worked really well. There was also some corridor noise every morning at 9 am, which was a bit disturbing.

The “deluxe” room was very basic, with an incredibly tiny bathroom, and everything already looked worn out. We also waited 15 minutes outside before someone finally opened the door. The location is fantastic, close to Rialto bridge and the other main attractions, but I can’t recommend it for the price.

I’d fully prepaid for one night at Ca Leon d’Oro, from 29th to 30th May 2024. When I arrived, nobody was there to open the door. I rang the bell and called all the numbers, but got no answer, and spent about four hours waiting. It completely ruined my vacation in Venice.
