We had an enormous room, and the staff were wonderful. The hotel is right on a lovely, quiet square, where there was a nice market during our stay, and it’s a fairly short walk to the main tourist square. The downside was how old-fashioned the room felt. The bed, sofa and bathroom seemed to be around 20-25 years old, possibly older, and that’s why we thought the price was a bit too high.

The hotel is well placed, with good shops and restaurants just a few minutes away and a gondola stop on the canal right outside, if you’re willing to pay 80 euros. Our large room, number 101, looked over the square and had a clean bathroom, two wardrobes, tea-making facilities and a safe. They changed the sheets every day, and I was glad to find a fridge, which came in handy for our obligatory bottle of wine at the end of the day. The staff were very friendly, and the included continental breakfast was nice, though the dining room felt cramped when everyone was there. The decor is typical old Venetian shabby chic, but some parts were a little too shabby and some of the furniture could use an update. Still, we were happy with our stay and felt it was good value. Recommended.

Maria at breakfast was so sweet, and she makes lovely vegan breakfast tarts. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our family room was huge, with plenty of space for all four of us, and the air conditioning meant we could keep the windows shut on hot nights and not get woken by noise from the square. It was an easy walk to Rialto and San Marco. We had a really good stay in Venice.

A great little hotel close to San Marco, with gondolas right outside and restaurants and local bars on the square less than 30 seconds away. The reception has a ceiling fresco, and there’s a lovely private canal entrance. The classic decor suits the place, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Breakfast is prepared in house, and the cakes are delicious, so do try them. I’d recommend it without hesitation for a stay in beautiful Venice.
