Hotel Ca Marinella

They put us in the last room on the top floor, which wasn't shown in the photos, and we had to carry our suitcases up four floors of narrow stairs. There was no coffee or clothes iron. They charged €17 for a can of Coca Cola. Don't waste your money here, book somewhere else.

A cute place with classic design touches. The style is a little rustic, which adds to its charm. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy. It's a trek from the train station, but close to the sights.

We had a lovely stay. The staff were friendly and easy to talk to, and breakfast was nice with plenty of options. The hotel is in a very convenient spot, close to shops and restaurants, with the main attractions about a 20-minute walk away. We'd recommend it, and thank you.

Our room was booked as a standard double, but it was so impressive that I'm not sure whether we'd been upgraded or this was the room we were meant to have. It had a dressing room, an en suite and a large bedroom, easily big enough for four people. The window faced the water taxi point, so we heard deliveries and people coming and going. That didn't bother us, since the hotel and room were otherwise quiet and relaxing. If you stay where people live and work, some noise is to be expected. One afternoon, a singer passing by on a gondola was a lovely treat. The room was very clean, and someone came every day to tidy up and leave fresh towels when needed. We skipped breakfast, though it was available. Reception is open 24 hours, and the receptionists and concierge were lovely, always acknowledging us as we came and went. The Ca' Marinella is inside the Santa Marina hotel, on a small square beside a canal and water taxi point. A larger square just down the way has chicetto, drinks and some lovely meals. It was a wonderful stay, and we'd come back.
