There are some nice touches here: the room stayed warm despite the cool weather, and we could open the windows for fresh air without much noise coming in. It was a reasonable size for two, and the small bathroom was warm, with soft, pleasant towels. The mostly unattended reception gave the place a private feel rather than a hotel atmosphere. I thought it was good value and was satisfied with the stay. It’s nice to know there’s reasonably priced accommodation in Venice, though I don’t think I’d return here. We had specifically booked twin beds but got a double. The person checking us in said the beds could be separated, and they were, and brought extra sheets, but we had to make them ourselves. The shower was a bit small and shabby, though not a serious problem. I skipped breakfast, but my friend said the quality was rubbish.

The nicest suite was beautiful, but our experience with the host was bad enough to shape the whole stay. She was rude to my mother when she mistook a seat cover for a napkin, and she interrupted my wife’s breakfast three times to say it had to be paid for. She could have explained the house customs politely instead of muttering under her breath. Expecting visitors from other countries to know the rules already is ridiculous. We paid a lot to stay there, and a little courtesy would have made things much better for everyone. With so many other places in beautiful Venice, I can’t recommend this one.

The location was good, but the rooms were more worn than the pictures suggested. The whole place smelled of cigarettes, the bathroom had hair on the floor, and the room door wouldn’t lock from inside. The Wi-Fi was awful. The hostess was rude and cheap, and barely spoke English. At 10 am she banged on the door asking us to leave, even though checkout was clearly stated as 10:30. While we were checking out, she kept asking whether we’d had the minibar water, as if trying to get a few extra euros. A horrible stay. There are better options for the price and quality.

The neighborhood was especially quiet at night, and the rooms matched the website photos. Everything was very clean, with careful and frequent cleaning. The rooms are cozy and the hotel is lovely. Breakfast isn’t large, but it’s more than good for what it is, and the service feels fairly personal since there are only five hotel rooms. The only small downside was occasionally waiting a few minutes, at most five, for someone to welcome us at check-in.
