Domus Superior

We had lovely views of the canals and historic buildings right outside our window, and the room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly from the moment we arrived and made everything easy. We found the location peaceful after a day out, while still being close to all the places we wanted to see. There isn't any dining at the hotel, but that worked out well since we could try some great local restaurants just a short walk away. The whole stay was effortless and enjoyable. We'd absolutely come back for the service, views, and location.

It may photograph well, but the place felt like a DIY job with low-quality materials throughout. It advertises itself as four-star and charges accordingly, though it seemed two or three stars at best. There was no lift, the walls were paper thin, and the single-glazed windows let in noise from the street, canal, neighbors, and an aggressive buzzer. The drapes were fake and couldn't be drawn. There were no radiators in the bedroom or bathroom, so it was freezing. My fiancée caught a cold and hated the place.

We were about a five-minute walk from San Marco Square, and the room was taken care of every day. The room and location were beautiful. It was lovely waking up, having coffee, and watching the singing gondolas go by each morning.

We left just a few hours after checking in. I'd booked three nights for my fiancée and me at 330 euros a night, but it felt like a two-star room even though Booking.com listed it as four-star. Check-in was odd, with no genuine warmth, unlike anywhere else in Italy. There was nothing comfortable or luxurious about the place. The door felt cheap, the walls were paper thin, the windows single glazed, and there was no insulation or bathroom heating. The room was freezing, with no blackout curtains, and the bed was rock hard, probably inspired by the Flinstone’s. Everything seemed cobbled together, with zero comfort or privacy. You could hear someone sneeze on the street or your partner flush the toilet. There were zero amenities or services for that ridiculous price. We couldn't stay there for a romantic getaway. It would've been more like camping in the woods or survival with Bear Grills, so we moved to a proper hotel and enjoyed our stay there. After I requested a partial refund for the remaining nights, Domus cancelled my booking on Booking.com, so I couldn't leave a review. A self-respecting business owner who takes pride in their work would see that they were falsely advertising and return the money. This was a cautionary tale, no value for money, and shady business practices and advertising by the host.
