Giorgione Hotel

The location is perfect, and the hotel has a classy, old-world feel that suited our time in Venice so well. They’ve paid attention to the little touches: food at breakfast comes on silver trays, the plates are beautiful, and the servers are friendly and helpful. There are lovely plates displayed around the hotel, along with amazing chandeliers and customised carpets. A really fantastic place.

Our room is absolutely precious, like something out of Beauty and Beast, and there's room for both our large suitcases while still leaving space to walk around. The shower gets really hot, too. The bellhop carried our bags upstairs, and everyone has been SO friendly. We’re a one-minute walk from where the water taxi dropped us off, about ten minutes on foot from the main Rialto bridge and another 15ish minutes to St. Mark’s square. Breakfast had a really nice spread, with a coffee machine, fresh juices, pastries, scrambled eggs and more. Great hotel, and I’d absolutely stay here again.

Breakfast was awful. The scrambled eggs were badly overcooked, the bacon burnt and chopped into tiny squares, and there was no other meat or any vegetables. All the diced fruit was dumped in one bowl, and it seemed old and soggy. They put out two identical tables of sweet rolls to make it look like there was more, but everything was stale. The corridors were shabby, with bent, damaged ceiling panels. In the room, there was nowhere to put the small soap bars in the shower, and no kettle or even glasses. You can get tea or coffee in the lobby, but after long days walking around Venice, I wanted to relax with a drink in my room. There's no TV, just a tiny 24-inch monitor, so forget watching something like Netflix in the evening. I wouldn't call this a 4-star hotel, at most a 3-star one. This stay ruined our trip to Venice. It was a complete disaster and an experience we won't forget. I strongly warn people against booking here.

The bed was comfortable, and I liked relaxing in the well-appointed lobby during our December visit. The hotel is charming, very clean and in a quiet area, with San Marco square a short walk away. The bathroom could feel cramped if you're tall or need more room to move around.
