Hotel Flora

We stayed in four places on our Europe trip, and Hotel Flora was our favorite, even ahead of a 5-star place in the Dolomites. The price felt very reasonable for the comfort, service, and charm. The staff at the front desk gave us great suggestions and even booked a private water taxi for 4am. Breakfast was another highlight, with delicious food and beautiful dishware. The courtyard was a favorite spot, with lush plants, cozy seats, and magical lighting. It's tucked into a quiet little alley, yet just steps from busy Venice. The vintage feel comes through in the detailed wallpaper, art, and lighting, all kept up with care. My only small complaint is that there are no blackout curtains, so bring a sleep mask if early light bothers you.

The staff really made our weekend, helping with bookings and recommendations. They even surprised my partner for his birthday, such a thoughtful touch. The hotel is central and super cozy. We had a lovely stay and will come back!

The little bar for two worked perfectly, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. It's a beautiful hotel right in the heart of Venice. I imagine the courtyard must be lovely in summer.

I did a lot of online searching for a centrally located but quiet, slightly upscale Venice hotel that felt safe for a woman traveling alone and had staff available around the clock. What I found exceeded what I expected and gave me the authentic Venetian stay I wanted. The hotel is tucked away from the busy streets, but you can walk to restaurants, gondolas, shops, and sights. The owners greeted me with smiles, and the place smelled of roses. Since it was my first visit, they had a welcoming chat with me about Venice and what it offers. At check-in I looked out over the peaceful private garden, with a vintage bar stocked with local wines and top shelf spirits. Staff also gave me a personal tour through the flowers and up the beautifully designed staircase to my room. They recommended restaurants and experiences, and booked dinner reservations for me. My room was spotless, organized, and well stocked. Sunshine came through the windows, with a lovely view of terracotta rooftops, a dome, and the garden below. It was quiet, and the mattress and linens were so comfortable I slept in and missed the complimentary breakfast. The bathroom was fresh and clean, with plenty of luxury local lotions, potions, and soaps. I could walk barefoot without feeling crumbs or sand underfoot. There were lovely details all over the hotel, from the wallpaper and lights to the flower vases and books. A record player in the classic bar was spinning Coltrane’s “Blue Train.” I never found a view that wasn't beautiful. I loved the comfort, design, peaceful feel, cleanliness, and the in-house food and wine.
