Hotel Sogno di Giulietta e Romeo

The second time we came back in August, we were put in “The Young” room, and it was awful. It felt like a damp storage cupboard quickly turned into a guest room. Although we paid the same as for our first stay, the air conditioning barely worked, there were hairs in the sink, and the whole room smelled unpleasant. We left early. Management has ignored every attempt we’ve made to follow up, with no apology, explanation, or resolution. That was a shocking change from our first visit, when we had the lovely “Mirror Room.” The breakfast then was simple but nice, and the hotel’s location is excellent. Unless staff can guarantee in writing which room you’ll get, I strongly recommend avoiding the hotel.

The room we’d chosen wasn’t available when we got to the hotel, and the employee didn’t know about our reservation. We’d booked online and called to reserve that specific room, and had been told it was available. He couldn’t offer any solution. The organization was really terrible. The room was poor for the price, and breakfast was terrible.

I didn’t even stay the night. I checked into another hotel, which was amazing and very clean. The room I was given wasn’t among the promotional photos. The listing showed the two best “King Suites” but didn’t show or describe smaller, subpar rooms like mine. There was no real window, just a small opening onto a blank wall, and the room smelled of sewage the whole time. Carpets and floors around the property were grimy and seemed not to have been properly cleaned in ages. For these rates, the place felt more like a run-down motel. When I asked staff why the room didn’t match what I booked, they just shrugged and weren’t helpful. They seemed to know what they were doing, misleading guests and hoping no one objected. I’d never stay here again and strongly urge people to look elsewhere. At best, it’s false advertising; at worst, a health hazard. Don’t be fooled by the curated photos, this hotel is a scam.

The staff were friendly, and I appreciated them. Still, the old building has only a few rooms, and ours felt creepy and not very clean. We stayed for just one night, then moved to the Hyatt Centric for the rest of the trip. Getting there means crossing a lot of bridges and carrying your luggage up stairs, then climbing more stairs to reach the room.
