Hotel Villa Edera

The mattresses are firm but very comfortable, and there are nice outdoor seats for breakfast. The breakfast spread is decent, though it could use fresh orange juice and more fresh fruit, for example. It ends fairly early, at 9:30 am. A nice hotel in a central spot on Lido, with pretty rooms and nice decor.

We'd booked three nights, but our first room had three wasps. After we got that under control, three more came through the roof. We changed rooms and got ready for bed, then I felt something crawling on me. It was a bug. Maybe it had come in from outside, so at first I didn't think much of it. Then I checked the mattress with a flashlight, and it was mattress lice. I called the hotel at 11:45 p.m., and they said they couldn't help until 5 a.m.

For €100 a night and close to the beach, it works for one night, but I wouldn't stay longer. There are better nearby choices at the same price. The room looked much older than the photos on Booking.com, and the bathroom pictures were fake. It smelled musty, the shower flooded the bathroom, and the worn mattress gave me back pain. The walls are very thin, breakfast was basic, and the terrace was okay.

Our furry companions were welcomed with smiles and care. This hotel is genuinely pet-friendly, and that made a huge difference for us. The staff were warm, friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and it really feels like they care about making your stay special. Though it's right in the heart of Lido, the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. The vaporetto stop and essential services are just minutes away, but the hotel is remarkably quiet. Breakfast was generous and fresh, served in a charming setting, a lovely start whether you're going into Venice or walking around Lido. Hotel Villa Edera is a hidden gem, and we'll definitely be back.
