Il Palazzo Experimental

The bar's cocktails and service were five-star quality, and the food was delicious. The garden and common areas were spotless and pleasant, and the staff were attentive, flexible and genuinely helpful. As an architect, I loved seeing a renovation where every detail had been considered. The hotel looks just like the photos, beautiful and carefully designed. The whole place has an extraordinary architectural and interior design feel. It's a calm, delightful stay in Venice, and I'd recommend it to fellow architects and anyone who'd enjoy that kind of setting. Everything is within a 20-minute walk, and there are two boat stops very close by.

They charged my card again. I can't believe this is happening AGAIN, it's turning into a nightmare. Update: I called and complained to booking.com, and the hotel reimbursed me. Thank you for doing the right thing. I've never stayed at this hotel, but something very unpleasant happened. They charged me 1000€ for a booking I hadn't made, claiming I was a “no show.” I told their team the booking.com reservation wasn't mine and that my booking.com or email account had probably been hacked. They texted to apologize for the misunderstanding, so I thought it was resolved. The next day they charged my card 1000€ anyway and told me to take it up with booking.com. I'm so disappointed.

Wandering the little alleyways and tucked-away corners on foot was one of the nicest parts of our stay. The hotel is in a quieter spot, away from the main tourist crush, but we could still reach Rialto Bridge, Piazza San Marco, and other sights easily by walking, public transport, or taxi. Inside, the nautical styling gave the place its own character. Our room stayed comfortable and cool at 20°C throughout our two nights, with the air conditioning already set when we arrived. The high ceilings probably helped it feel airy, and we liked having a separate powder station so my wife could get ready outside the bathroom. Robes and slippers were included too. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and we had a wonderful stay.

Breakfast was the one part that left me wanting more. It’s made to order instead of a traditional buffet, and while the quality was decent, the choices felt limited. The rest of our experience was so good that I’d happily return to Il Palazzo Experimental. After a long search for a Venice hotel, I was glad to find it. The canal view is a dream, and the decor and atmosphere feel carefully put together, with an elegant look that still has plenty of character. It’s calm and chic, a welcome break from the crowded parts of Venice, while still being convenient for getting around.
