Hotel Orsaria

If Stazione St Lucia is where you arrive and leave from, this is a very convenient choice. The room was clean and antique. There’s no elevator, though, so getting luggage up to the third floor was quite a workout.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. I made a reservation for three people five months ahead. Two months later, because of health reasons, I told them two people couldn’t travel and asked to change the booking. The staff were discourteous and unfriendly toward customers, and simply refused. Since Venice is a tourist city, I feel another hotel could easily find other guests. I strongly advise people not to book here.

The customer care was the worst. I asked the hotel to cancel the room or lower the charges because, for personal reasons, the other people travelling with me couldn’t come. The staff were so rude they didn’t even bother to cancel. They could at least have removed the breakfast charges, since we didn’t have breakfast at all. Please choose another place.

Our room was tidy and pleasant, and although breakfast had few options, it was simple and really good. The location is handy for a short stay, just a short walk from the train station on a quiet street. Check-in was confusing at first, and we spent a couple of minutes looking for the place. It would have helped to get proper instructions before arriving. We had to check in at the nearby Venice Maggior Consiglio hotel, which is basically a sister hotel run by the same company. After that, our key opened the La Locanda di Orsaria front door. There’s never anyone at its front desk, so you have to go to the other hotel if you need something. Our room was on the third floor, reached by two sets of stairs. Nobody helped with the luggage, though I didn’t ask.
