There was just one power socket, so charging my phone meant unplugging the TV. The toilet was fitted so close to the shower that sitting on it was difficult, and the guests upstairs made a lot of noise. Even a nighttime trip to their bathroom sounded like the ceiling might come down. The staff were unfriendly, unhelpful, and didn’t communicate. The location was great, though.

The shared kitchen was a nice touch, with coffee and little snacks ready to have. The room itself was beautiful, and being a 10 to 15 minute walk from many of Venice’s sights meant we could wander the quieter streets. You do need to haul your luggage up a narrow staircase, as other reviews mention, but that didn’t bother me.

We liked the quieter neighborhood, away from the tourist crowds, with a few small, inexpensive restaurants and bars nearby. The room was clean and modern, with a fridge and a comfortable king bed, though room # 1 was small. Upstairs there was a tidy shared kitchen with a coffee maker, refreshments, and milk in the fridge. Maurice, who let us in, said the refreshments “are not included but are free !,”🤔 Room # 1 was listed as a double room, but it was really a bedroom with an attached bathroom and a double bed. Reaching it meant climbing almost three flights of narrow stairs, with no elevator. As a couple aged 70, we struggled to get our two suitcases up. We had to hire a porter with a trolley to carry them over two bridges from the Venezia SL train station, a seven-minute walk away, for €15. We’d told them we expected to arrive at 1:00 pm, and they said that would be fine, even though check-in officially starts at 2:00 pm. But when we got there at 12:50 pm, nobody was there. We waited outside for almost an hour. No one answered the bell or either of our two calls, and there’s no reception or place to leave luggage when staff aren’t there. It’s just a locked door on the street. Things finally got moving after we called Bookings.com customer service. Maurice arrived with the keys and apologized. There weren’t any spare electrical outlets, so we had to unplug the TV and the desk lamp, which didn’t work, to charge our phones. One bedside lamp was also broken, but we didn’t complain. The toilet is so close to the shower enclosure that it may be uncomfortable for a larger person. We’d still recommend the place, as long as you keep these concerns in mind.

The room and bathroom were both spotless, and the bathroom fittings were top notch. My main problem with the room was carrying heavy luggage up two very narrow staircases. The service was a real pain. We rang several times and called both numbers more than once before anyone opened the door, but I never met anyone in person. The keys were simply left on our room door, and I had to send my passport details by MMS. It was the worst service I’ve had from somewhere calling itself a hotel.
