Ca' Sagredo

The front desk team was efficient and very helpful, and breakfast was a good buffet in a lovely historic piano mobile. Our room was huge and perhaps a little old-fashioned, but the bed and pillows were comfortable, the bathroom was big, and everything was clean, maintained, and working properly. The hotel is in a historic palazzo in the Rialto area, with the traghetto to Rialto market right outside and vaporetto stops for Accademia and San Marco a few steps away at Ca d’Oro next door. There are no tea-making facilities, though that seems pretty standard in Venice. As of 202601, the Wi-Fi was basically unusable while they were apparently upgrading it. Mobile coverage in Venice is good, so you may be able to manage without it for a couple of days.

The parts that need maintenance and the less-than-clean areas make it hard to call this a four- or five-star hotel, as some other reviewers have said. Still, Ca Sagredo hotel has a lot of historic grandeur, and I’d go back. The vaulted ceilings and walls covered in art, old marble and stone, Murano glass chandeliers and art, and subdued lighting give the building the feel of another era. If you’ve visited grand places in Rome Italy, France, or Cuba, you’ll know what I mean. The dining and banqueting rooms are almost magical, and would be a photographer’s dream for weddings or fashion shoots. Breakfast and dinner were both high quality, though a bit expensive compared with nearby places. Service was friendly and responsive, and staff were helpful with arranging transport and tours around the island of Venezia. The hotel is very well located for nearby amenities, with the water bus, taxis, and gondolas all within walking distance. If you can overlook a few irritating details and the lack of pristine conditions, the authentic atmosphere is well worth appreciating. It may not suit everyone, but I recommend it and would certainly return.

Cannaregio was a breath of fresh air after the crowds around San Marco, with plenty of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. I loved crossing the Grand Canal to Rialto Market and staying right on the canal. The hotel’s opulent Italian style carries the history of the city, while the spacious, sunny rooms feel elegant and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent in a lovely room, the staff were wonderful, and lunch on the terrace was a treat with great service. I highly recommend it and hope to return.

Our group had four rooms, and everyone was impressed by the care put into each one. They were spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated. The bar and kitchen staff cheerfully handled every request, and the hotel’s management and staff were amazing. Several major sights are an easy five-minute walk from this centrally located luxury hotel in Rome. We’d stay here again.
