The layout was awkward, with one bedroom on the first floor, the kitchen and sitting room on the second, and both bathrooms on the third. There’s no elevator, so it means a lot of stairs. The microwave was broken, and the gas stove had to be lit by hand. We were only given a cigarette lighter for that, which made it too difficult.

This apartment is in a restored historic building, 200 metres from Ca' d'Oro. It has air conditioning, free WiFi throughout, and a fully equipped kitchenette with a seating and dining area. The stone walls and wood-beamed ceilings give it character, alongside modern furnishings. Rialto Bridge is 300 metres away, and Basilica San Marco is 700 metres away. Venice Marco Polo Airport is the nearest airport, 7 km from the property.

Rialto puts this house right in the centre of Venice, yet away from the tourist crowds and traps. We found lovely shops and restaurants and felt we could experience the real city. I travel a lot and have never had a holiday house in such a wonderful location, or one that made for such an amazing holiday. The house has real Venetian character and has been completely renovated, so it combines charm with the luxury of a five-star hotel. The WiFi was fantastic too. If you’re going to Venice, don’t hesitate to book it. You’ll love it.

There’s plenty of space and the rooms are comfortable. The apartment on San Polo Street has everything you might need: a washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, TV, WiFi, and all the utensils. Highly recommended, but keep in mind there are lots of stairs and both bathrooms are on the top floor. If climbing stairs is difficult for you, consider that before booking.
