Palazzetto San Lio

The room was beautiful, the location excellent, and the hostess was a sweetheart. The owner also seemed generous, even offering a bottle of wine from his own production. This could have been a five-star review, except the bed was worse than bad. Instead of one double, there were two bouncy mattresses loosely pushed together. It was like being on a narrow waterbed stacked on another one, and the slightest movement felt like falling off a boat. You’d have to be a very easy sleeper not to mind :/

For the price, this central place is very nice and earns five stars from me. It gives you a feel for very old buildings and is maintained adequately. The room is partly renovated, the kitchen is new, and there’s a view of the water right outside the window. It’s beautiful, though a few things bothered us: the mirrors are old and faded, the couch shouldn’t be covered with a sheet, and there’s no headboard. That last part was a problem because the wall is made of flexible material. If the owner changed those things, I think they could charge much more. Sorry, Alice. I tried to leave a good review on Expedia, and thought I had, but when I checked later it showed 2/5. There was no edit button. I called Expedia to ask them to cancel it or send another review link. The person there said it would be no problem, but that was last week and it’s still unchanged.

Lovely renovated rooms in an amazing downtown location. The woman who checked us in was very friendly and keen to help. I’d recommend it.

For the price and location, the value is five stars to me. The bed, bathroom, and kitchen were very clean. There were a few small issues and some dust in other areas, but they’re barely worth mentioning given how good the value is.
