Hotel Tiepolo

The room made a welcome place to return to when it was 30 degrees outside. It was quiet, the air conditioning worked, and the bathroom was clean. We’d been unsure after reading the reviews, but I can say good things about this place. I liked the location, and the woman at reception suggested a room with a balcony, which we took for an extra payment. The towel is the one thing that might disappoint you. I can hardly call it a towel, it’s more like a sheet. You may also find the shower cabin awkward, since it has a curtain instead of a door. Otherwise things were nice. For the price, it’s one of the renovated, good-looking options.

After our flight was cancelled and then delayed, we arrived at 01:30 only to be told the hotel wouldn’t honor our reservation because they were overbooked. We had booked the day before and had received a confirmation email with instructions. In the middle of the night, we were left to find somewhere else ourselves, knocking on hotel doors until one would take us. There was no compensation for the price difference we had to pay or for the trouble. Our travel agent had recommended this place, and we’ve told her not to recommend it to future customers. It put a real negative spin on our trip to Venice.

The receptionist was very kind and accommodating, and even lent us phone chargers. We had a lovely experience at hotel Tiepolo, right in the heart of Venice. The double bed was made by putting two single mattresses together, as in many places, so it wasn’t ideal for a couple. The receptionist very kindly tried to stop them from moving, but there was still a gap between them and we didn’t sleep so well. The towels were sort of like blankets.
