Breakfast alone was a treat, with four kinds of croissants, local dishes, and bacon that came out perfectly crisp. The restaurant attached to the hotel also looked high-end. There’s a little rooftop terrace on the fourth floor if your room doesn’t have a balcony, and the beach is only steps away. They can sort out beach access, chairs, massages, spa visits, bike hire, and parking if you’re driving; for a small fee, they’ll even put together a beach bag with a towel. I liked being able to leave my room key at reception while swimming. The staff made the stay, though. They cleared up a booking website mistake quickly and kindly by email, so I could book the next day. Mateo greeted me warmly and went through all the amenities with a real willingness to help. When I checked out, Luca gave me a parting gift tied to his cultural heritage. Between the service, location, and quality, this felt like the best value around. I’ll be back.

We booked a beach club and spa visit along with our stay, and I’d recommend both. Hotel Residence Esplanade is about a 10-15 minute walk from the harbour, and there’s a bus stop right across the street. The room was clean, fresh, and a good standard. The staff were really kind and accommodating. We had a wonderful time and would likely choose Hotel Residence Esplanade again if we make it back to Viareggio, which we hope we do.

We spent every evening on the fourth-floor rooftop, which turned out to be a special spot. The view was wonderful, and there were plenty of nice towels and soap in the room. From reception through to the restaurant, we felt welcome, and both the service and food quality were lovely. Pasquale at the bar was amazing. Very happy with our choice.

The beach club was really nice, and the rooms felt luxurious. We had a great family holiday at the Esplanade, with amazing staff and a smooth experience even before arriving. Everything felt just right. If you're going to Viareggio, stay there.

The hotel itself is beautiful, but the people there were the real highlight. When we mentioned we needed to leave at 6am, they offered to prepare breakfast to take with us even though the dining room doesn't open until 7.30am. At six, a lovely man at the counter called a taxi for me and brought me a coffee. They were incredibly kind and accommodating.
