Hotel Key

The hotel is near the city stadium, in the wider center of Vicenza. The area around it isn't especially attractive, but it's an easy 10-minute walk to the center of this historic Renaissance city. Our room was clean and fine, with everything we might need. The bed creaked when we slept, which is the one drawback I'd mention. We had dinner at the hotel too, and it lived up to expectations. It was delicious, especially the tiramisu. The staff were friendly and breakfast had plenty of variety. If I come back here, I'd stay at this hotel again.

Breakfast was the standout, really top-notch. The beds were very comfortable, and everyone on staff made us feel welcome. Hotel Key in Vicenza was a great stay, and I'd happily come back.

Good value, with a clean, no-frills place within walking distance of the old town. It's right by the stadium. Breakfast had a decent variety, though nothing particularly special.

The noise was the main problem, and the reception response made things more chaotic. During our school trip, the first two nights were fine because we were quiet and respectful. After a third school joined following night two, there was a lot of noise on the fourth floor. The soundproofing was practically nonexistent, so we could hear a great deal. We students went to reception, explained what was happening, named the rooms involved, and described the noise. The receptionist, a tall man with curly hair, went to the second floor instead. He barged into a room where students from our school were hanging out without disturbing anyone. It was assigned to three boys, though two weren't there at the time. He shouted at the one who was there, waking more people, and physically shoved him out of the room. He didn't get the disturbance under control and only made things worse. On our fourth and last night, another guest arrived and was unhappy about the noise from the other school. Those students were knocking on doors and running off, shouting, and at one point it sounded as if there had been a fight. The woman called reception, and the receptionist came upstairs yelling, which woke us. When we came out to see what was going on, he turned on me, grabbing his own hair as he shouted that the woman wouldn't pay for her stay unless we stopped talking. After he left, I quietly asked a girl from the other school, the one from our country, what had happened. We were whispering. Then the woman opened her door and yelled at us in Italian. When she realized we didn't speak Italian, she shouted in English, “I can't sleep, I can't sleep.” That raised the noise further and woke more people. The whole stay was a huge mess, and most of us didn't enjoy it.
