Villa Celentano

The pool was wonderfully refreshing, and Alfonso was very helpful. We stayed with our two daughters, sons-in-law and three grandchildren, and loved being in the village. There are two great shops and a butcher there, plus a lovely bar below and two nice pizza restaurants in Moaino, including Bar Ferarro. We were lucky to catch the local festival, which was awesome. Buses to Vico Equense are regular and cheap, and from there the trains to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Sorrento are inexpensive. We also took a boat trip to Amalfi. The neighbours were lovely.

Alfonso from Naples villas was very helpful, and the owners left us to enjoy our holiday. The villa in Ticciano has its own pool and spectacular views, and we had a brilliant stay. There are two little shops in the village with everything you need, and a pizzeria just below the villa that sometimes has entertainment. The bus to Vico Equense runs fairly often, though some buses didn't show up and we managed fine. Check that the ticket machine validates your ticket with the right date and time. Inspectors tried to fine us over an incorrect date and time, but we refused to pay and got it sorted.

The accommodation was so comfortable, and the facilities, stunning views and helpful management made this one of the best holidays I've had. It's away from the usual tourist track.

We picked a villa with a pool so we could keep to ourselves during COVID, but children played around the pool in the evenings. Someone also came to water the terrace plants in the morning, without anyone telling us beforehand. The children and the owners, who lived next door and shared the entrance, were noisy until 2 a.m. The villa is large, basically three separate apartments, though only one has a kitchen. The owners were friendly. On arrival we found two apartments had no hot water; the boiler was fixed two days later. Wi-Fi worked only on the balcony and in one room. The TVs were small, 14 inches, and couldn't be seen from the beds. Bedrooms had a closet for long dresses but no drawers, so we left clothes on chairs. There was no bathroom cabinet for things like razors or deodorant. There were no mosquito screens on the balconies. If we left them open, wasps got in, and there was a nest near the pool. Since we were on the ground floor, we had to shut all the balconies at night and sleep with the air conditioning running. I can see why they charge for excess electricity. At €2,500 a week, this isn't a fair price.
