La Brenta Vecchia was an easy, no-hassle lunch stop on our way through, with parking on site and a spot close to the highway. We’d happily return for the food and the welcoming service. Inside, where we chose to sit, the dining room felt warm and inviting, and the outdoor garden looked beautiful too. The staff were attentive, friendly, and professional without distracting from the meal. The carpaccio was a fantastic starter. After that we had homemade gnocchi with butter and cinnamon, plus fresh homemade pasta, all full of flavor and clearly prepared with care. It’s a gem just outside Padua if you’re after authentic Venetian cooking.

On a quiet Tuesday evening, one of the waiters helped us order and spoke a little English. The service was quick and friendly. Most of the food was good, but my girlfriend’s pasta with anchovies wasn’t to our taste. It seemed like little more than anchovy paste, with nothing else, and was far too salty and not very tasty.
