Agriturismo Tenuta Serpepe

We spent 11 days here and had a great time. It's a handy base for seeing the Tuscia Viterbese area, with Lake Bolsena only a few kilometers away. The apartments are spacious and clean, on an organic farm that raises Cinta Senese pigs and sheep. A lovely setting for anyone who enjoys animals and wants peace and quiet in nature. The owners are friendly and always willing to suggest places to visit, and you can buy their products on site.

We stayed for a week in the Montefiascone countryside, and there are lots of places to explore within 30 km, including Lake Bolsena, Civita di Bagnoregio, Viterbo, and Tarquinia. The apartments are comfortable and have everything you could need. It's very peaceful, with just the farm animals for company, so you can really relax. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys this kind of vacation.

The place is very isolated, and they didn't even provide a bottle of water, despite the water not being drinkable. It's on a pig farm, and the smell and flies make it impossible to spend time outside. We were charged a €60 cleaning fee for just three days, yet still had to take our own rubbish to bins several kilometers away. I don't think it's a coincidence that payment is due on arrival instead of departure.

I visited at the end of January 2020 to see what it was like. It's a working farm spread over 200 hectares, where you can experience life among nature and animals. There are pigs wandering in the woods, donkeys, a colony of cats, dogs, and chickens. There's also a little shop selling their organic products, including pasta made with ancient grains. The prices are average, though I think they should be higher. If you prefer standard accommodation with a couple of flowers by the door and a pool, this probably isn't for you. To me, it's a real agriturismo, the only one in the area.
