The leather-painted triptych is the most interesting thing inside, though the vivid colors of the wall frescoes are lovely too. Outside, there's a special stone pulpit where Thomas of Aquino preached in the 13th century. This is the only church in Viterbo to have survived the centuries in its original medieval form, and it's well worth visiting.

There are artworks and frescoes dating back to around 1320, all in a peaceful setting. The church feels simple and solemn, and its exterior pulpit is where Tommaso d'Aquino spoke.

Inside the Church of Santa Maria Nuova are frescoes and masterpieces from the 14th and 15th centuries. Near Piazza del Plebiscito, it sits by Viterbo's characteristic medieval quarter, close to the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and the famous Palazzo dei Papi. It's one of the province's most artistically and historically interesting sites.

A kind woman told me about the reenactment held every second Sunday in May, recalling the discovery of the buried figure in a field, with people dressed in period costumes. It's a lovely church, with a triptych inside showing Christ the Savior between Saint John and the Madonna.
